Sausage Sizzles are back again, but they are unfamiliar. At Bunnings, Rocklea BUT week-ends only. At the entrance to the gardening section, with new arrangements for a whole lot of things - electronic payment, COVIDSafe distancing, you apply the sauce!

The onions still go on first. Contact Steve Chakalakis (0451 302 305) for information or put your name on the whiteboard at the shed.

AGM - will be on the Tuesday 3rd November at 10 AM. If there are no changes to COVID restrictions we should be able to have 30 members (only) attend in person, so please provide a proxy if you are not going to attend.

The main items of business will be

to elect the Shed Management Committee for the next year, so we need nominations (there is a "spill" each year)  AND

Receive the audited accounts. If there is anything else you want to have raised please contact me

Appropriate forms will be emailed and put on the notice board at the shed.

I have looked at the website and seen that the last thing I wrote was about the end of last year. COVID-19 has thrown a massive spanner in a lot of works.

So we have been open, in a somewhat tentative and approximately COVID safe sort of way since mid-June. We have had two Management Committee meetings face-to-face rather than over Zoom. Ukuleles are being played using one of the big screen TVs to provide song sheets and with as much through ventilation as possible. The gardens are being watered and looked after, the woodwork shed has been assessed by QBuild and George's plans for sheeting and cleating and work bench installation have been looked at with favour, plans for a suitable site for Warren Hipworth's memorial plaque are afoot, a PayPal sytem to allow you to make your $2 contribution without needing nasty coins to be touched is struggling into existence.

So things are happening! For how long?

Use zip ties to hold your fingers crossed for Victoria and New South Wales!

Hope for an outbreak of common sense in the entire Australian population!

There have been a few changes to how the web site works.

If you want to look at Events click on events with your mouse and then wait there and click again when a new events label appears. In other words do not move down to the "Smoko" menus and click there - if you do you will find out about Smoko's!

The same applies to the News menu

You should have received a copy of the newsletter with a copy of the Minutes of the AGM attached. Let me know at the shed or by email if you did not get this, although, come to think of it, that is a daft statement!

Thank you to the outgoing Secretary, Norbert Gaulton, and to the now Immediate Past President, David Spillane. It was noticeable how much more relaxed you looked around the shed.

After some discussion, the new Management Committee will be meeting  for the first time on Monday 14th October at 11.30 AM - (earlier to try and make it more convenient and to allow other shedders to see how truly democratic everything is!)

The last two dates for Sausage Sizzles this year have been confirmed.

They are on Wednesday 9th October and Wednesday 13th November 2019.

It will be up to the Executive Committee to decide when we will restart in 2020 but 'traditionally" this has been in February.

We will then likely be interacting with a new Activities Organiser at Bunnings Rocklea, so adios, good luck and THANK YOU to LJ Timai!

Please note that the AGM will be on 17th September '19 at 10 AM.

Try and make it as there will be a major changing of the Executive.

Have a chance to thank out-going members and possibly help choose their replacements.

Just to let everyone know that we had another successful Sausage Sizzle at Bunnings Rocklea on Wednesday 28th August '19. This was after a long break due to having a change of date so we had larger than usual re-stocking costs and thus less than hoped-for profits. As there is only two weeks to the next one and we are up to our eyeballs in drinks and sauces, the next one, on 11th September, should be spectacular.

George and I went along to the Father's Day evening the next day and had a great time eating pop corn and playing with the kids (young goats!) in the petting zoo. Good magician, African sausages, very small tool boxes being assembled and we won a very nice, big Esky for the shed, full of drinks!

Many of you will be aware that a young Frenchman has been fitting out his venerable Mitsubishi Prado for a trip around Australia, using the workshop facilities as an Associate member of the shed.

He has nearly finished this task and will be off in the next few days.

Have a safe trip, visit Eric at the shed in Cairns, go with our congratulations (and a little envy)

Please note that this will occur on the FIRST MONDAY of September at 1 PM as our secretary is busy on Wednesdays.

Hope you are better by then, Norbert!
